Hallmarking

If your sterling silver jewellery weighs more than 7.78g it will carry a full UK Hallmark from the Birmingham Assay office. If your gold jewellery weighs more than 1g it will also carry a full UK Hallmark.

This is not only a legal requirement but also your guarantee that you are getting exactly what you thought you were getting.
